The Interdepartmental Master’s Program specializing in Bioethics is a coordinated educational initiative of the Department of Philosophy (which also provides administrative support) and the Departments of Medicine, Biology, and Sociology of the University of Crete. It constitutes an academic innovation, as for the first time in Greece a network of university departments was established with a focus on educational and research activity in a cutting-edge field that is experiencing significant growth internationally.
Bioethics, as a field of critical reflection and re-examination of the principles and criteria of practice in the age of biotechnology, constitutes a normative inquiry into the ethical issues arising from biomedical innovations and their applications. The structure of the Program is interdisciplinary. The Master’s Program has been designed for students coming from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including philosophy and the humanities, biology, health sciences, law, and the social sciences.
For information regarding the admission procedure to the Master’s Program Bioethics, as well as its Regulations of Study, please consult the Program’s website.
