The University of Crete, with a deep commitment to the democratic principle of gender equality, has established the Gender Equality Committee. The Committee promotes a culture of equal participation of all members, regardless of gender, in the academic and educational life of the University; ensures substantive equality in educational, research, and administrative processes; and contributes to the prevention and addressing of gender-based discrimination and sexism wherever they occur.
To this end, the Committee implements programs and awareness-raising initiatives on issues of discrimination, provides mediation and accountability services in cases of discriminatory treatment, and promotes research within the scope of its legally defined responsibilities.
